Purpose

The institute aims not for academic achievements, but rather to contribute to a tangible understanding of the mission field and to support frontline ministry through Scripture-based field analysis.

Today’s mission fields face various challenges—wars, refugees, Islamic extremism, the influx of diverse ideologies—and are undergoing multiple transformations rapidly accelerated by social media. Due to globalization and the swift flow of information, changes in one region are not confined to that area alone, but ripple out to influence many others. Within these organic interconnections, mission fields continuously affect each other, evolving dynamically day by day. Now, more than ever, it is critical to cultivate “Acts-like disciples” who live out the Gospel, consider how the Gospel can be practically applied to life, and exercise leadership that transforms the world through the Gospel.

Moving beyond classical approaches that attempted to explain the entire globe with a single grand narrative, this institute seeks to gain deep insight into the actual currents and movements occurring in mission fields and to interpret them from a Gospel-centered perspective. It is impossible to capture such rapidly changing and dynamic contexts with a few fixed frameworks. Therefore, the institute maintains a humble posture, taking into account the unique situations of each region, listening closely to the genuine nature of individual phenomena, and pursuing understanding and service to mission fields and the world through communication and dialogue rooted in Scripture.

In particular, many regions—such as North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia—where the Gospel is still desperately needed, bear distinct characteristics due to their historical, cultural, and religious contexts. The institute will seek to understand these areas from a diachronic perspective, analyzing and comprehending them based on their historical trajectories and interconnected relationships.

Furthermore, new mission frontrunners are emerging from regions like Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. In this dynamic era, the institute aims to fulfill a new missionary role by supporting their missionary zeal and pursuing leadership that collaborates with them.

By engaging in Scripture-based field analysis, the institute seeks to contribute not to academic achievements, but to practical understanding and support for field ministry. In doing so, it aspires to gain a deep grasp of each region’s distinctiveness, sensitively discern global changes, and firmly hold onto the essence of the Gospel—thus realizing a missional vision that connects local mission fields with the world.
